Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees.
Drain the backed beans and empty the cans into a mixing bowl.
Add the onion, apple, brown sugar and bbq sauce to the mixing bowl. Fold into the baked beans.
Empty the contents of the mixing bowl into a 9x13 baking dish and spread evenly.
Add the bacon to the top of the baked bean mixture. You can either lay the strips across the top or cut into bit sized pieces and cover the top of the mixture. I usually prefer the bite sized pieces.
When oven has reached 350, place the baking dish on the middle rack and cook for 60 minutes or until bubbling and bacon is cooked.
Remove from oven and let sit for 5 minutes before serving.
